Celebrating Earth Month: Our Power, Our Planet in Goleta

Celebrating Earth Month: Our Power, Our Planet in Goleta

Every April, we take a moment to reflect on our environmental footprint and the impact of our daily choices. At Mission Refill, Earth Month is more than a celebration; it’s a commitment to a sustainable future, driven by the collective action of our community. The Earth Day 2026 theme, "Our Power, Our Planet," perfectly encapsulates this sentiment. Environmental progress isn't just about grand gestures or new technologies; it's about the daily, intentional choices we make—like choosing to refill. Here is what this theme means for you and how you can get involved in Goleta this April.

The Power of Collective Action

The "Our Power, Our Planet" theme highlights a crucial truth: the path to a sustainable future is paved by community-led solutions. It’s the daily efforts of communities, schools, and families that sustain climate action and build long-term resilience. At Mission Refill, we witness this power every time a customer makes the choice to reuse. Your everyday action of refilling a container is a meaningful contribution to environmental change. Together, as a community, our small shifts become significant progress. This Earth Month, let's harness that collective power for a cleaner planet.

Beautify Goleta Earth Day: A Community Effort

Celebrate Earth Month by giving back to your community. The City of Goleta is hosting a community-wide cleanup and educational event centralized at Stow Canyon Open Space, located on Valdez Avenue. This is a wonderful opportunity to actively participate in beautifying our city. The event will also feature community education, crafts for kids, a touch-a-truck experience, and a volunteer prize drawing.

  • Date: Saturday, April 18

  • Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm

  • Location: Stow Canyon Open Space (on Valdez Avenue)

Earth Day Fun: Free Activities for Kids

We believe in fostering environmental stewardship from an early age. Join us on Earth Day for free, nature-themed after-school activities designed for children up to 12 years old. These hands-on crafts are a fun way for kids to learn about the importance of reuse and connecting with local nature.

  • Date: Wednesday, April 22

  • Time: 3:00pm to 5:00pm

Participants will build a seed starter from recycled materials and learn about the native plants that thrive in our neighborhood. They can also make a bird feeder using recycled materials and pick up a spring bird-watching guide created specifically for kids.
