If you’ve ever burned through a beautiful candle and felt a pang of guilt tossing the empty jar (or watched it pile up on a shelf with a dozen others “just in case”), we have great news. Candle refills are officially back at Mission Refill — and this time, we’ve teamed up with WaxLoop to make it easier than ever.
A Partnership Built on Less Waste
We’re so excited to partner with WaxLoop for our drop-off / pick-up candle refill service. WaxLoop is a Santa Barbara–based company that’s reimagining what a candle’s life cycle can look like. And they fit perfectly with our mission to keep reusable goods in circulation and out of the landfill.
That gorgeous vessel you love? It deserves a second (and third, and fourth) act.
How It Works
• Bring in a clean, empty, heat-safe vessel. Whatever you’ve got: an old candle jar, a teacup, a ceramic crock. As long as it’s heat-safe and completely cleaned out, it’s a candidate. If a vessel has not bee cleaned, we can not accept it.
• Pick your scent. Choose from six rotating, seasonal fragrances, or go fully unscented if that’s more your style.
• Pay by the ounce. You only pay for what fills your vessel. If you need an extra wick, it's only $1 more. Prices below.
• Drop off by Friday, pick up the following Wednesday. That’s the turnaround.
• We’ll notify you when your refill is ready. No need to keep checking in.
That’s it. Drop off, get a text, swing by, light a match.
What Makes WaxLoop’s Refills Different
WaxLoop has pioneered a wax recycling method that’s genuinely one of a kind. Each refill is 60% recycled wax and 40% new soy wax — meaning the candle you take home isn’t starting from scratch. It’s part of an ongoing loop, with old wax getting a new life instead of going to waste.
A few other things worth knowing:
- All fragrances are paraben- and phthalate-free.
- Recycled wax may be a combination of soy, paraffin or coconut wax
- We also accept candle wax for recycling, even if you’re not refilling. Bring it in and we’ll make sure it gets where it needs to go.
Pricing
Every refill includes one new wick, so your candle is genuinely good as new. For a double wick add $1.
