Mission Refill, Santa Barbara’s premier destination for eco-friendly living, is excited to announce its new partnership with the Isla Vista Compost Collective (IVCC). Starting July 14th 2024, Mission Refill will serve as a convenient pick-up location for IVCC’s Community Compost and People’s Potting Mix.
Mission Refill is dedicated to promoting clean, sustainable living by offering a wide variety of sustainably packaged goods and bulk refill products. The store’s mission is to make eco-friendly living easy and accessible for everyone in the Santa Barbara area. By curating products that minimize environmental impact, Mission Refill helps consumers make more responsible choices.
IVCC, a service under the Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD), IVCC offers free food scrap collection from residents’ doorsteps, community compost drop-off sites, and engages the community through educational workshops and volunteer opportunities. Since 2017, IVCC has grown from a small operation with just a bicycle, trailer, and 5-gallon buckets to a robust service that caters to over 600 residents, diverting over 100,000 pounds of food scraps from the landfill. Additionally, IVCC sells compost and potting mix, with all proceeds supporting their free food scrap collection service.
The collaboration between Mission Refill and IVCC is a natural fit, as both organizations share a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By providing a pick-up location for IVCC’s compost products, Mission Refill is expanding its eco-friendly offerings and making it easier for residents to access high-quality, locally produced compost and potting mix. This partnership reflects the shared goal of fostering a sustainable community and reducing waste.
Starting August 1st, 2024, customers can purchase bags of IVCC Community Compost and People’s Potting Mix online at https://islavistacompostcollective.myshopify.com/ During checkout, select Mission Refill as your pick-up location. Customers will be notified when their order is ready for pick-up at Mission Refill.
